POLICE IDENTIFY HOMICIDE VICTIM
Police have identified the victim as 64-year-old John E. Versypt, of Cordova, Ill. Sgt. Kelsay said Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers has taken the unusual step of authorizing, in advance, their maximum reward of $1,000 for any information contributing to the arrest of any suspect in this homicide.

BANK ROBBED AT GUNPOINT
Iowa City Police are searching for a man who robbed American Bank & Trust at gunpoint this morning. [P]olice received a report of a suspicious person lingering near the bank at 9:05 a.m., and at 9:07 a.m., a bank employee called 911 to report that the bank had been robbed.

WEST BANK ROBBED
A man wearing a wig allegedly robbed an eastside Iowa City bank late Friday afternoon, Iowa City police said. Iowa City police responded to a bank alarm at 5:05 p.m. Friday at West Bank, 1910 Lower Muscatine Road, according to a police report. A single suspect allegedly entered the bank, approached a teller and demanded money, according to police.

STABBING REPORTED
A man was stabbed on Bloomington Street in Iowa City on Saturday night, according to police. Police were given descriptions of two suspects. One suspect was apprehended at the 400 block of East Bloomington Street. The second suspect still is at large.

ROBBERS WITH BANDANAS STEAL CASH FROM IOWA CITY DELIMART
Iowa City Police are looking for two men who tried to rob the DeliMart on Highway 1 early this morning. The clerk had gone to the back of the store to retrieve some supplies. When he returned, he found two men crouched behind the store counter, working to remove a drawer from one of the cash registers. The two men were wearing hooded sweatshirts and had bandanas covering their faces.

POLICE LOOKING INTO ALLEGED INTRUSION
Iowa City Police are looking for an alleged intruder from an incident early Saturday.
Police responded to the 1800 block of Kathlin Drive at 12:18 a.m. Saturday for a man who reported that he woke up to the sound of the interior door of the home being opened and the sight of a flashlight beam, police said.

PURSE SNATCHER SOUGHT
Police report that a woman was walking near the intersection of Burlington and Linn streets at 1:29 a.m. today when a man ran up and snatched the purse she was holding.
The suspect ran east on Burlington and was last seen in the area of Burlington and Van Buren.

Iowa City police are looking for four black males they say attacked a woman and robbed her as she got off a city bus near the intersection of Hollywood and Grantwood about 9:08 p.m. Wednesday.

POLICE HUNT FOR ROBBERS
Local police are looking for the
suspects in three armed robberies that occurred Friday night in Coralville and early Sunday in Iowa City.
The clerk at the Suburban Amoco, 370 Scott Court, told officers that two men, one armed with a handgun, took money from the store and fled westbound on foot, police said.

CAB DRIVER ROBBED
On Thursday, February 5th, at 12:13am, the Iowa City Police Department received a report of a robbery, involving a cab driver, at intersection of F St and 2nd Ave. Responding officers learned that the cab driver had picked up a fare in the 2400 blk of Lake Side Dr and drove him to 2nd Ave where they stopped in order to confirm an address. After the cab was stopped the robber grabbed the driver by the throat and threatened her, with a knife, while demanding money. The driver, who was not injured in the incident, gave the robber an undetermined amount of money. The robber then fled northbound on 2nd Ave.
The robber is described as being a light skinned black male, with a skinny build, wearing a brown thigh-length coat and jeans.
